Fine impression.
Some small spots. Verso some letters.
Provenance; Jules Michelin (Lugt 1490). About Nicolò della Casa little is known.
Passavant lists four engravings, Dumesnil five.

He is thought to come from Lorraine (della Casa being the Italian version of De la Maison).
He worked for Antonio Lafreri and also Salamanca, both active around 1545.

Bandinelli sits in a rather sparsely furnished studio. His right hand rests on a modello or a copy after an ancient sculpture. The other small statues identify the sitter as a sculptor. He wears the medal of St. James, bestowed on him by Charles V. The original painting is now in the Uffizi in Florence. Michelin was an painter and etcher himself. His collection was focused on landscape, but he had
some Italian drawings, amongst them also Bandinelli according to Lugt.
