A fine and early impression before all the rework.

On 17th century paper without watermark.

In the inventory of the copperplates owned by Clement de Jonghe in 1679 this print is called “Speelders an de deur” (Players at the door).
An old man playing the hurdy-gurdy and a bagpiper with a dog perform at the door of a house, where a man, woman and a child listen to the music.

The etching is not dated, but is in style related to others made c. 1635. This is an impression of the first state. The second has extra work done on the front of the child and is posthumous.
