Brilliant impressions. Excellent condition with ample margin around. Each medaillon has an ornamental border and texts in French and Dutch.
William of Orange has the symbols of a just and wise ruler around him The judgments of Salomo and Cambyses.
Around the Duke of Alva one sees a monkey unde a canopy, a woman sitting on a monkey also under a canopy and lots of other monkeys symbolizing folly. Orgeuil et Folie with The Whore of Babylon, Superbia, a peacock, Phaëton etc.
Caritas has six of the seven works of charity.
 
According to the literature the four prints belong together, but are hardly ever found together on the market. Hollstein mentions only three complete sets sold
at auction.
